Rural Valley, Pennsylvania - Bits and Pieces of History

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sarakay/rural%20valley%20history/

“Sarah’s Roots and Twigs” has lots of different things relating to that portion of Armstrong County Pennsylvania where the Barnards were. Here is her introduction:

Here is some of the history of Rural Valley, Yatesboro, and surrounding areas in Cowanshannock Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania that I’ve gathered up along the way. This is a work in progress with much more to be transcribed. Many of these materials were found while I was cleaning out my aunt’s home in Rural Valley. Quite a few others came from the estate of Mary Elizabeth (”Lib”) Caylor and were generously donated by Linda Repine. Submissions are very welcome!

This site is subdivided into the following areas:

* Histories. Civic and church histories.
* Maps.
* People. Wedding announcements, biographies, letters, memorial cards and obituaries.
* Cemeteries.
* Pictures.
* Miscellaneous. Newspaper articles and the like that do not fit into the other categories.
* What’s new?

Huge genealogy update on our Agnew family

Thanks to help from Shirley Pierce and others, and postings at Pa-Roots.org, I’ve added a lot of people to the Esther Eva Agnew side of the family. I’ve added many biographies which were written in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They give a feel for what Western Pennsylvania was like!

Bartley Allen Agnew is a good place to start:

I have some old Agnew family photos, including Grandmother Esther, Great Grandmother Audrey, and Audrey’s parents and family, that I should have up soon.

Bartley and Margaret Ann Agnew, grandparents of Esther Eva (Agnew) Barnard continued

Now that I have Agnew/McNaughton possibly sorted out (but not verified!), I find two more researchers for our Agnews:

Bartley and Margaret Ann Agnew, grandparents of Esther Eva (Agnew) Barnard

I found some records that are totally messed up, but may have some clues to my Agnew ancestors. I did a search for Bartley Agnew at familysearch.org and then clicked on the batch number, and searched on that. Read the rest of this entry »
