General Notes (Husband)

He grew up near Telegraph, TX but when grown he moved to New Mexico, took up a homestead, and started a horse ranch.

Clara Bell Cloudt was born September 25,1914, and nine months later the family moved to Rocksprings, Texas, where Moritz Cloudt owned a ranch west of town, which is now known as the Hankins place. Monroe and his family lived in town in Mart Nelson's house, right next to his garage, where Monroe worked. Later, Moritz bought a ranch near Carta Valley and Monroe moved his family there to live.

In 1919 Monroe bought a ranch at Montell, Texas.

In 1940 Monroe moved his family to Rocksprings, having bought Dink Aiken's house on the Rocksprings-Uvalde Highway after all their girls were married. When asked why, Monroe replied, "So we'll have enough room for all our children and grandchildren." There were many special family times at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and birthdays.

He drove the mail from Rocksprings to Brackettville. He got this job from Pat Gibson, who went to work for the State. Monroe not only drove the mail twice a week but also worked for Coy Dillard in the Texaco Station, where Mart Nelson had had his garage for many years. Monroe worked at these two jobs until his death.

Born on a ranch. 6,44,128

General Notes (Wife)

Erie's family had come to Texas from South Carolina. When Erie was a teenager, her family moved to Paint Rock, Texas, where they farmed for several years before moving to Lovington, New Mexico.

Erie Cloudt was a very gifted lady. She could take the most awful house and make it a very special home. She was a wonderful cook and housekeeper. She grew flowers and had a garden; she sewed all her girls' clothes and they were the best-dressed girls. Not only did she take good care of her family, but the neighbors received a lot of her time and love.

Born on a farm.

Guessing this Erie L. Cloudt is Erie Love Bell. 6,44,45

General Notes for Child Erie Nell CLOUDT
